The Ashland Strawberry Faire in historic Ashland, Virginia is a tradional celebration to promote the community and feature the strawberry harvest. The Faire is usually the first Saturday in June. It is held on the streets adjacent to the Randolph Macon College campus. The Faire is a free community, family-oriented event during which non-profit groups and churches raise funds and offer something for everyone. There are vendors offering arts, crafts, plants, and antiques to the many thousands who attend the event.

Among the many attractions are two stages. They feature entertainment from brass and jazz bands, choirs, dancing, pipes and drums, to Little Miss and Little Mr. Strawberry contests and much more.

While many take advantage of glaucoma, blood pressure, and spinal screenings, the children can participate in activities from face painting to dunking booths to pet adoptions to strawberry pie eating contests.

Gardeners can browse for bedding plants, herbs and yard art. Others can find hand made decoys, to hand smocked dresses and collectors can select bric-a –brac, ceramics, painted glassware, wrought iron, baskets, jewelry, quilts, tole painting and works of art and antiques. Of course don’t forget to sample the strawberry shortcakes, drinks, breads, and more or take home flats of fresh strawberries.

Welcome to “The Center of the Universe” and enjoy a day to honor a succulent springtime berry that has become as much a tradition of Ashland, Virginia as the trains.
